Holy Father gives Assent to the election by the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church Synod of Bishops of a new Redemptorist auxiliary bishop.

The Holy Father has given his assent to the canonical election made by the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church of the Rev. Fr. Bohdan Dzurakh (Dziurach) , C.Ss.R as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archeparchy of Kyiv-Vyshhorod (Ukraine), assigning him the titular See of Vagada.

He was born on March 20 1967 at Hirske, Province of Mykolaiv, in the area of Lviv. After a specialized course in the Institute of Food Preparation technology in Leopoli, he entered the diocesan seminary of Drohobych in 1990, joining the group for intensive formation. He was ordained a priest on March 17 1991 and made his perpetual profession in the Redemptorist Congregation August 19, 1995. He continued his theological studies and obtained a doctorate in Warsaw. He did continuing studies in Strasbourg (France), Innsbruck (Austria) and Rome.

Father Dziurach has served in various assignments including that of Prefect of Redemptorist students in Strasbourg (1998-2000), spiritual director of students in Innsbruck and Novice Master of the Redemptorists in Lviv (2001). He has also been a spiritual director, assistant parish priest and was a coordinator for spiritual assistance to prisoners in Lviv. In addition he has ministered with the Chaplains of the Rehabilitation Center for children suffering from cerebral palsy.

He speaks Russian, Polish, French, German, Italian and English.
