Message from London Confreres
Editor’s note: The following e-mail was received from Father Michael McGreevy of the London province who is stationed at Clapham. Our Church of St. Mary’s is situated very close to an underground station, but thankfully, far from the areas affected by the bombings.
Dear Gary,
Thanks for your email and your thoughts and prayers for all of us at this time. The events here occurred within a quite concentrated area of London, north of the river. This was then completely cordoned off and we, some miles south of the river, could only keep up with the news like everyone else with TV and radio.
Everyone has been deeply shocked but resolute. We have prayed here in St Mary's, with daily Mass giving us the opportunity for special prayer. We put up a notice on the Thursday inviting people to come in for prayer, or to light a candle, just to find peace.
We have been concerned overnight about the threat in Birmingham (another city in England) and the evacuation of the centre of the City, but this morning that seems to be returning to normal. Please God the threats have been contained.
Every good wish, and thanks again for your prayers,
Michael
